This was another painting which was inspired by a surf trip. The unusual cloud formation attracted my eye as well as the torquoise shades of the water. The high sweeping clouds can't fail but constantly remind me of the idyllic hot summer days spent surfing and camping.

Materials

Tools and materials used for this painting are as follows:
  • Nine Rembrandt Soft Pastels (chalk) - various colours
  • Pale blue primed pastel paper
  • Aerosol based fixative to bind colours to paper
  • Tasmanian Huon Pine Frame
  • Double matte board for professional finish
  • Italian Beechwood full-size professional studio easel
You will notice that there is a small front coming in over the hills in the distance, which demanded a different technique to render them correctly. By using my fingers to blend the colours, a more subtle soft haze was created.
